This is known as putting the POTUS into a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. They did the same thing prior to invasion stating that if WMD were found it would be because the CIA planted them.
I read an interesting article today stating that a BCT of the 4th ID is returning to the States. They failed to emphasize that this wasn't a reduction of forces but a rotation with units from the 3rd ID replacing them.
I wonder if those decrieing the multiple deployments would prefer a return to the policy during Korea and before, "There for the duration!"
