Ft Bragg (GB Club)

Was out at Ft Bragg today. Killed some time driving around and looking at a few areas that I had worked. Most are torn down with new construction.

Went by the Rod & Gun Club to pick up a card as was going off post by way of Gruber Road. The car went on auto pilot at 9th Infantry Road and pulled into the Green Beret Club parking lot.

I went in and had a few cold Buds in long neck bottles and a cheeseburger with fries. The inside looks great and has a number of great team pictures on the wall. The lunch crowd was just starting to come in when I had to hit the road. Oh, well.

Saw a large number of troops just down the road at CIF. All of them with white tape on the legs. Incoming, outgoing or drop-outs?

The White Engineer Tape is how SFAS "Labels" Candidates. Candiates put the tape on both legs below the cargo pockets and over the Name tape on the BDU Shirt. Once they start SFAS, they are assigned roster numbers and write it on their uniform. If there was a large group at CIF, it was the start of an SFAS Class.

The small group must be the end of the SFAS class

A Section Leader in my platoon came back from SFAS today in the uniform described above. I'm glad to say he was selected.

I miss GB Club tuna melts. Or maybe its just the atmosphere. They seem to rearrange the place everytime I go there. I'll be back soon enough in January on TDY.
