Zarqawi The New Face of Al-Qaeda

Really interesting book. It paints a pretty clear picture of Zarqawi and of his fellow terrorist. One of the stories in the book was pretty funny. Zarqawi had just come back from Afganistan( where he completely miss the war against the Soviets) with his new religious zeal. Makes all the women in his family wear the typical head gear worn by Afgan women and tells his brothers they are not allowed to watch television as it will corrupt them. Then he proceeds to start a new business which happens to be a video rental store. Can you imagine. It was probably like the soup nazi for video rentals.

Anyway the business fails.

The book shows us the evolution of a street thug into a top terrorist. He finds a way to attract power, money etc. through this holy war. I hope we catch this bastard.

One last impression. In this book and in Holy War, Inc. both OBL and Zarqawi promote suicide bombers. Not for them of course, but for some other poor slob. When the these bombings etc. happen, the guy high up in the food chain is always long gone. Then, when one of these high up guys get caught, they sing like canaries. What a sham.
