Oklahoma Sooners

They lost today, at home, to TCU. Would anyone care to discuss the game, the team, or the fact that every top football recruit in the United States has heard about the result?

Well, RL, I'll have you know that I've deleted the last three things that I've typed on this subject. After all, I have pledged to cultivate a more healthy attitude toward Big 12 football this season. I am getting too old for my usual depraved death spiral of fight song-induced dementia. But just know - I am sitting here gloating and enjoying the warm afterglow hours later. Just as I will be after UT scalps OU in Dallas this fall.

Hook 'em!

Yes, it was a good day in college football yesterday. I was even happy about Notre Dame winning, as it improves our strength of schedule.

UT > UL 60-3, TCU > OU and Clemson > A&M. Yesterday was a good day, as was the the tailgating and rum and cokes at the game.

I actually used to attend OU so I have to say... I'm shocked they lost. So glad I'm not a gambler! I just hope this isn't a trend.

OU's Offense seemed out of sync the entire game. They simply could not get a drive going...

They have a horrible passing game now that Jason White is gone. All opposing teams need to do now is put 8 men in the box every play to stop Adrian Peterson.

I think this is the year Texas finally gets that monkey off their back in the Red River shoot out. However, we will see if Texas is for real this saturday night, at Ohio State.

Bah! Like many USC fans I have spoken with here in the city of Lost Wages, I am sure you may feel that USC is on their way towards another title. No ND fan I talk to is talking the Irish up at all. Like the head coach said, it's just two games. But I have a feeling the assbeatings we have taken (and NO! I do not need to see the damn scoreboard - I was there. LOL.) the past few years are over. One, Charlie is not letting the team get two high after these two wins over ranked opponents. Two, sooner or later the offense is going to get rolling, but the defense is surprising a lot of people and should have a clearer understanding of what their coaches want at about the time USC comes to town. And everyone knows that the USC defense is not the same brick wall it was in 2004, and I think it plays right into Brady Quinns' hands. They do not have the bulls up front to get to Quinn, and that leaves the screen pass and short passing game in general open for exploiting.

Counselor, I have lost two bets in a row to you on this game, but I am not about to wimper away this year. I bet you when ND was down, so I might as well bet while they are at least pretty decent. It's a month away. (BTW, I am thinking about attending next years game in USC since it is only a 50 min flight, so maybe I'll see ya there. )

I am still bummed about Ohio State losing to Texas. The Longhorns are a tough team and Vince Young is a really strong candidate after this win, but we had him hemmed in pretty good for the last three quarters and we let him throw that pass. And what in the heck was Justin Zwick doing in the game? I love Tressel and trust him, but he better have Troy Smith in their as the starter for the rest of the year. That decision was just.....idiotic. And that dropped TD pass by the TE.....OUCH!

So what are we betting? I propose that the loser has to use an opposing-team avatar selected by the winner for 30 days.

Oh boy, they can't even beat UCLA? Flash in the pan, I guess . . . Or maybe USC just took the wind out of them in the Orange Bowl last year!

I loved watching Ohio State lose, but I have to admit this....

Texas is one of the most "one dimensional" teams I've seen in a long time. Vincent Young is their entire offense. Texas runs the spread option-read play around 15-20 times a game.( the play where Vince is in the shotgun, and reads the defensive end and either A: hands off the ball, or B: keep its and runs the ball himself)

Vince is not a very good passer at all. I'm telling you all right now, Texas may find themselves in a position this year where they are behind by 10 pts or more, and Vincent Young will not be able to lead them from behind, because he simply can't throw the ball well enough. It may happen against USC in the National Championship game.

However, given the way Oklahoma and Texas have played so far, it appears Texas is going to stomp a mudhole in Oklahoma's butt this year.
