Term of Enlistment~

Good day all,

Which term did you choose and why?

How did the actual active duty period compare to what you expected in the beginning?

What things would one consider in order to choose between a 5 year and a 6 year 18X contract?

While I have not found this point covered in an exhaustive review of the archives, I apologize in advance for the chance of being shown otherwise.

Thank you,

Kairos

I chose the 5 year option, yet would be proud to serve the full 8 if necessary!

Three years and no $$$.

The choices were U.S. (Draft) two years no $$$, RA(enllist) 3 years and no $$$, ER or NG (enlisted reserve or national guard) 6 months active duty and no $$$.

It was so easy we didn't have all of the traumatic decisions y'all have today .

I enlisted for three years, infantry, turned down USMAPS, after awhile I decided that jumping out of AC was not as much fun as actually flying them, applied to WOC flight school, and never really made a conscious decision to make it a career. It just sorta happened that way.

I was working with the finest people in the world, and I couldn't think of anything comparable to that.
