On Assignment
I am pleased to announce that I have been placed on assignment instructions to 7th SFG (A). Pretty damn excited, in fact! I'll be working in one of the Bn MIDs, or maybe in the Group MID. I report in January.
I had the option to retire, or choose the 7th Group assignment. Well, since I made the deal with my branch manager that I would forego retirement in exchange for a Group assignment, it all stands to reason. I'm very looking forward to getting back to Fort Bragg.

Radar Rider
Looks like I'll see you in 7th Grp. I'm waiting for my branch manager to cut orders. I've got a friend at USASFC who's lining me up with the job. I'm unsure if I'm going to be at Bn or Grp level. Either way I'm ecstatic to get out of Maryland.
Can I PM with questions? Don't want to bug you, but I came to DIA from an Infantry BN and now off to a whole other animal.

PM away, brother.
I'm looking forward to getting out of Maryland, too.

No-Go for 7th Group
I got promoted out of my assignment. Yep, I was all set to report to Fort Bragg and 7th Group in January. Hell, I was just about ready to start outprocessing from my current unit. But then the MSG selection list came out, and yours truly is on it. Radar Rider discovers that 7th Group is overstrength for MI E-8s. I told my Branch Manager to just send me to Fort Bragg; I’ll be a 1SG anywhere available. No such luck.
So, I will be staying at Fort Meade. Things are looking good for me to be a 1SG here. That should be good for me, because if I have a Company I can take care of Soldiers, which is what I really like to do in the Army anyway.
I’ll have opportunities later to get back to Bragg. If nothing else in 20 years of service, I’ve certainly learned to adapt to my environment.
On that note, does anybody need to rent a three-bedroom house in Fayetteville?

Congratulations and look at the bright side, they could have needed MI E-8s in Greenland.

Congrats, but I was looking forward to a beer at the GB club. Oh, well.
Better for you to owe us one than beat us out of it.
I enjoyed my time as a 1SG but only because of the people who worked "for?" me. When you have SF people working for you any job is easy, but only because of their hard work.
