Makes me glad SF has been at the forefront (at least this time) getting quality gear to the troops before they go into harm's way. Hopefully he finds it money well spent and doesn't have any hassles for having non-standard (for his unit) equipment. As for you - sorry, I think you'd better start saving some of your LEO pittance. Those ACOGs get expensive. (Though you might contact them directly and see if you can get an LEO discount. Some manufacturers do.) That's why me getting one is fairly far down on the priority list. I completely agree. Units should buy the ABSOLUTE best equipment money can buy for there people, especially when they are going into harms way.
I don't think regular equipment standards will be applied to his bunch.

Kind of makes me wonder why he would want to buy it in the first place but that is his business, not mine.
I'm simply looking for a sensible replacement or upgrade. Also, the BAC (Bindon Aiming Concept) doesn't work with the TA01NSN because of the standard cross hairs and yellow cross hairs in low light. No donut, triangle, or chevron to grab your eye.
When you guys played with one did it magnify the dot as well? i.e. take the regular 4 MOA dot and turn it into a 12 MOA dot? or does the dot stay the same 4 MOA? I have "heard" that it stays the same 4 MOA but Aimpoints web site doesn't mention it and I don't think its possible for it to stay 4 MOA.
Ángel De Muerte, Sir, do you guys have any opinion on the Aimpoint Magnifier?
