Matt Jones, and the NFL Draft
Has anyone seen this physical specimen play before?
Living in Pittsburgh, I seldom saw him play, but man is he unbelievable.
He is 6'6", 242 lbs, and runs a 4.37 40 yard dash. (Michael Vick speed right there)
He has a 39 and 1/2 inch vertical jump!
After his work outs and the senior bowl, scouts think he could go low first round, early second.
Here are three videos of him in action, one of them where he slams it home in basketball.

His 4.37 time is disgustingly fast for a person of his size . I really hope the steelers pick him up, to replace that lazy SOB Plaxico Burress.
He is bigger than Plax, can out-jump him, is much faster, and probably has better hands. A project pick, but evidentally he caught every ball thrown at him during the Senior Bowl. Will be interesting to see where he goes in the Draft.
Check out the video's, I think you guys will enjoy them.

What does "white cat" mean? Don't tell me you're rooting for the guy, and then come here to say the same simply because he's white. If I've misread that, then I apologize.

It's not common to see people with his physical talents, especially a white guy. I just threw that in the post because the majority of the people I've talked to who have seen his stats and clips are surprised he is white. Hell, the last White RB to win the heisman trophy was John Cappelletti in 1973.
Him being white isnt the "main" reason I posted this, but I'd be lying to you if I said it didnt affect my interest in him as an athlete. Now, regardless of his race, the numbers he put up at the combine and senior bowl would impress anyone. Which is why scouts have predicted he could possibly go late 1st rnd, early 2nd rnd.
Matt Jones personally feels he will make a better WR in the NFL than TE (which most teams want him to convert to). His reasoning is, paraphrased of course, why should I gain 20 lbs and run a 4.57, when I can play WR at my current size and run a 4.37. Seems like sound logic to me.

Radar Rider is correct. Fix it or lose it.

For me, in the end he's simply an entertainer, nothing more.

"Positives: Explodes off the snap, using his strong hands to deliver a jolt on the defender to escape press coverage … Moves fluidly towards the ball, dropping his weight to gain more acceleration out of his breaks … Adjusts well in the open to man coverage and generally will get to the soft spot in the zone … Has great sideline awareness and can shift gears to elude defenders in the open … Excels at making over-the-shoulder adjustments to get to the ball … Uses his frame to screen defenders and delivers a jolting hand punch to deliver aggressive blocks upfield … Always looks upfield to gain more yardage after the catch.
Negatives: Will need some route refinement, as he rounds his cuts a bit … Might struggle a bit to redirect and make adjustments to the ball in flight due to some hip stiffness … Has good speed, but did not show the second gear needed to be considered a deep threat … Must learn route technique and how to generate double moves when working in zone coverage. "
Thats from senior bowl week, which was before he ran his 4.37 at an NFL workout, which I believe gives him that second gear to be a deep threat. IMO I think this guy will be a huge steal for the steelers late in the 1st round. I would love to see them grab him before anyone else does.
As far as catching goes, he caught most of the balls thrown at him in senior bowl week and the workouts. Lots of teams are intrigued by him.

Perhaps we were friends in a past life, who knows
I just posted it because it's not very common to see someone of his physical talent and size/speed.
Plus I felt you guys would enjoy the videos. You see him throw the ball in Bevo's face at the end of the texas video lol

i thought we where talking about a reciever....this guy is a QB??
you should watch out for Mississippi State's QB, Omar Conner, we played against each other since 9th grade, this kid set some records in the state, can throw the ball (seen it done on game film) like 60+yds, and is SUPER fast. i actually sacked him a few times through my HS football career......that's something to brag about.
On a side note, it's on now man...you just had to show em smoking my team (ole miss) didnt ya?

Yes, crazy isnt it?
Haven't seen a guy run the option like him since Tommie Frazier.

I'll keep an eye out for him, unfortunately I dont get to see many SEC games up north in PA.
I'm too busy watching Pittsburgh take on the Big Easy lol

lol You have to admit it was a good run though. He gets flagged on the play for excessive celebration, well worth it though.

After Mike Williams, there is a huge drop-off.
