Looking for a new day-pack

I do a bunch of overseas travel and my old Eagle Industries 3-day pack has finally worn out. Links would be helpful.

Check on Kifaru at www.kifaru.net They have a new pack, can't recall the name, that is essentially the Marauder, but a little larger and in sheeple friendly colors. Their packs are nearly bombproof. I got one for Xmas a year ago and it's been great.

Eagle or Camelback is solid.

Stay away from Blackhawk.

I looked at the Kifaru, but couldn't take another mortgage to pay for it. Nice gear, though.

You want a day pack or a 3 day pack?

For a 3 day - I wouldn't trade my RAID for anything, but I have an Eagle one. They are being made by TAG now, and I haven't seen those. Anything Eagle makes is GTG in my book. The Kifarus are nice as well.

For a day pack, SDS has a good looking one out now.

The Tac Bag Here

And there are the MaxExpedition Man Purses. MaxEp has a bunch of new stuff coming out in Sept.

The Kifaru pack I was referring to is called the "Express." It's discussed in the forums, but apparently isn't listed in the product list yet. Call them if you think you're intereested, as it should be close to production

TR's right they're a little spendy. Mine was a gift, but this is one well built pack and it may be worth the coin. OTOH, I've heard only good things about the Eagle RAID and it runs a lot less.

I will second the RAID pack. I have one of the older ones from when Eagle manufacturedthem and I use mine daily. I cant offer an opinion on it since it is now made by TAG other than the other TAG gear I own is bombproof.

Kifaru makes nice packs as well. I have a marauder, but it rarely sees use. They are pricey as has been noted.

Is color an issue?

If not I would recommend the RAID as well. (Located here www.lightfighter.com ) Mine was also made by Eagle. although I cannot comment on there quality since TAG started making them; knowing Brad (designer of the RAID) he would not have another manufactor make something with his name on it that is substandard.

If color is a factor i.e. you want to stay away from Coyote or O.D.

You might want to check this out http://www.rstacticalgear.com/pd_sap.cfm

Lastly there are some more recommendations in this thread. http://www.professionalsoldiers.com/...ead.php?t=4570

Good luck to you.

I've owned and used Maxpedition gear for a while, but was not really impressed with the materials used nor the execution of manufacturing. It seemed to be cheaper materials combined with marginal sewing...with a neat design.

I'd check out the new Molle AIII from Eagle. Good old AIII with the ability to add more stuff.

Since it hasnt been mentioned, I'll throw my coin in for the PPM MAP, just slightly larger than an AIII, IMO its what the RAID wants to be when it grows up

Add to that twin stays, internal holster capability and bombproof construction.... available in civy-safe colorations.
