McCarthys Pot Distilled Whiskey

I just bought a bottle of this today. I'll post a review of it tomorrow, but it's supposed to be some of the best small batch Whiskey in the country.

Widmer Bros are very well respected in the brewing community and make some fabulous beers.

I'm not a big fan of the Widmers. I bought a case of their hefeweitzen when we first moved out here... it just didn't taste right. A few months later the wife brings home a 6 of it. Still not quite "right". I've been drinking a lot of the Fearless Brews and Rogue stuff lately. I've got a case of Rogue Imperial Stout in the fridge... that's some good stuff. Fat Tire and Black Butte Porter are the typical brews of choice though.

I didn't get a chance to try that whiskey tonight so the review is on for tomorrow.

Widmers Hefe is an American Hefe which will taste nothing at all like a German Hefe. It has less phenolics (the cinnamon, clove, banana, bubblegum flavors) that you would find in the German version.

Rogue's IS is a good beer and something that is always in the fridge, but you should try their Old Crustacean Barleywine!
