Tribute to my cousin
I can't hold this in any longer. I'm damn proud of my cousin who is a SGT in the Marine Corps. He will finally be coming home in the next few days from Iraq. For his actions there he will be the recipient of the Bronze Star.
Upon his arrival he (and I would suppose the other returning Marines from the Chicago area) will be met by an NBC news crew, escorted to Great Lakes Naval Air Station by IL State Troopers where all of us will be waiting. We *think* he will also receive his Bronze Star at this time. From all I have heard from my family this will be a hell of a time. I plan to take a lot of pics and will post some here if it is ok with him.
I salute you David. And I thank you publicly for all you do...as I do all of our Military everywhere. May God continue to keep you all safe in the palm of his hand.
Semper Fi.

While there is much inter-service poking and jabbing we all are proud of those who serve. It takes many and all jobs to keep the big green (tan) machine rolling.
In our family my generation split about 50/50 for the Marines and Army.
I'd give him a punch in the arm but you can give him a kiss from me to welcome him home.

LOL Pete, I'll give him a punch just for you. Same here, many in my family (uncles etc) were split Army and Marines as well.

Be sure he knows that are many people whom he might never meet who are nonetheless very grateful for his service and sacrifice.
