Happy 35th to Special Forces
On April 9th, 1987, The U.S. Army Special Forces Branch was established.
While the first Special Forces unit was formed on June 11, 1952, the official branch was not created until 35 years later.

I remember ....
Oh, I remember ... shortly thereafter, I was able to branch transfer from Infantry to Special Forces. It had been a long haul, from 31542 after OCS, Airborne, and SFOC, to assignment with 8th SFGA, Spanish Language at DLIWC, a stint with 10th SFGA because 8th SFG had downsized with the reduction in forces in Vietnam. Finally, PCS to 8th SFGA which deactivated after arrival and became 3/7 SFGA. Two 'years later I REFRAD and after working hard to come aboard, find a slot with 12SFGA.
So, while my assignments in SF were as an Infantry branch officer, I leapt at the chance to make my home with the SF branch. So later that year, after jumping through some administrative hoops I officially became an 18A. Best move I ever made (without moving, LOL) .....
So ..... Happy Birthday!!!!
