Odds are 4:1 Against

I would not want to be this kid when Bobby finds out.

Dr. Laura's Son to Join Special Forces
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/2/8/94811.shtml

Dr. Laura Schlessinger, famous for doling out advice on her nationally syndicated call-in radio talk show, shared a little of her own personal life with U.S. Army reservists.

Schlessinger told some 300 people at a 425th Civil Affairs Battalion event on Saturday that her son, 19-year-old Deryk Andrew Schlessinger, will join the U.S. Special Forces later this year - a mission that could take him to the Middle East.

Deryk, who enlisted last year, joined his mother on stage to explain his reasons for signing up. He told the crowd at the Calvary Chapel that he resented the way Americans criticize the war without recognizing soldiers' sacrifices - a theme echoed by his mother.
"Real people were fighting and I wanted to be part of that," he said.

Dr. Laura said she wasn't too worried about her son. "I brought my son up to be a warrior," she said. "I feel sorry for the mothers of the bad guys. And I just have a good feeling."

I can hardly wait for all the psychobabble that will spout forth from this broad if he doesn't make it. Isn't she the one that starts off her show with, " I am my kids Mom"? What is she going to do now, "I am my kids camp follower". I can just see it now when she starts giving out parenting advice to her son's team sergeant. Damn, I hope he does well, but he is already too visible for his own good.

Several celebs and relatives of celebs have been very good productive members of Special Forces. THEY are the ones who are at a disadvantage based upon previous comments. A man is what he makes of himself regardless of pedigree. CRS the name but I recall mention of a famous person who ran out of CCN.

Isn't she the one who strives to be the voice of morality for America??

I recall some nudie pic's of her floating around a few years ago, which she was obviously posing for.

That would be John Walton, an SF Medic who ran Recon outta FOB-1.

Got a Silver Star, IIRC.

Yes, John Walton was SF. Richest of the bunch of Walton's... 19.1 Billon according to FORTUNE magazine Nov 15, 2004...

I guess SF wins again..

From the article sounds like he is still involved in some associations as well..

As for Dr. Lara.... What are the odds??? 4:1 Is there a POT

Ohhhh okay I always had a soft spot for the long shot...

I have heard him speak from time to time...yes I have listened to the program...no I don't agree with her on some issues....but her callers do make me think of what I would do...kinda like watching a Jerry Springer show...

Anyone know when he enters the pipeline?

With all the extra attention this guy is going to be getting if he can make it he will be one very tough individual.

It's called staying out of the line of fire. "Don't, ask Don't tell" can apply. It is entirely possible for the man to go through the pipeline without his peers knowing. The instructors should only react if he draws fire.

It is all up to him.
