Thoughts of Memorial Day

I'd like to share a couple of very moving Memorial Day videos and some pictures from ANC.

Taking Chance. A Memorial Day Tribute
by Bryan Kean, 2 days ago

As we approach another Memorial Day, I want to again, thank all those who have served and remember all those who gave everything. We celebrate you and your selflessness, your honor, your courage, and your love of your country, and millions of people you never met.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to view this video and for the stories, you have shared. They are a blessing to me and mean so much. I appreciate them all.

Please, please take a moment to send this video to a family member or a friend you think might be blessed by it.

Remember, we must be their voices.

May the soles of our heroes forever rest in peace
May we never forget their sacrifices

Never forget, always remember!

They will not have died in vain if we keep fighting for what they believed in.

RIP to fallen.

So many Brothers and Sisters lost since our Nation's founding. May their sacrifice not be in vain.

God bless those and their families that have suffered and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. May they never be forgotten.

I am reminded of Gen Patton's comment:
Quote:
It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

This comment is for all of the draftee's and civilian patriots that volunteered in time of crisis. Those who stepped up that interrupted their careers and civilian lives. In all of our conflicts.

You see, I always wanted to be a soldier, from the time I was a young man, and told my Father when I was 13 I would be just that. I knew it.
I know many of you felt the same at an early age.
I think professional warriors can deal with war and everything that it entails in a different manner than those it is thrust upon. It is a medium we chose.

Much like drafting civilians to be Cops...or EMT's...or ER workers / Staff.... many would not be able to cope as they did not choose that.

I want to praise and honor those thrust into an environment they did not choose, that they would never choose, that they were not really prepared for and yet...they went, they persevered, and on so many many occasions arose to heights of strength and fortitude to make one stand in awe.

That level of sacrifice...self sacrifice... is worthy of great respect.

I know all of you will tell family and friends what this day means and have been doing so for a long time....but think about those thrust into our world who had no idea...none....but went anyway.

We always remember our own.... and the hero's we know and of the past...tomorrow I will dedicate to that unwilling draftee that went and did what needed doing unto his death.

PRB your statement says it all in a way that some of us, as much as we would have liked to could not begin to convey. It is not just a 3 day weekend for many of us it is a time of remembrance and reflection, thank you.

I just went out and put our Flag at half mast.

To remember our fallen, they are not forgotten. Everyone in the neighborhood will remember when they see it.

It will go back up at noon.

RIP Brothers and sisters.

SALUTE
