Grammar rules only tell you when to use plural and when to use singular, but what that plural or singular actually looks like is governed by morphology and not grammar (modern update to this includes random gender preference and progressive liberalism)
A bit of 16th century plural...
Hose - Hosen
Ox - Oxen
Box - Boxen
Makes perfect sense

Boxen is not a "plural" so traditional rules don't apply. Boxen is a third person pronoun for my new gender identity.
When I begin building my empire, I will replace the third person pronoun "them" with Boxteen.
After I have taken over the world and laid claim to my title as Supreme Overlord of the Known Universe I will replace the third person pronouns of "us" and "we" with Boxillion and all will be right throughout the galaxy.
Boxillion will show no mercy...
