Hell, I was afraid of the 1929 number.
Does this mean you're going to find respectable work now?

The drop from 1937 to 1946 is interesting. A good chunk of that perhaps due to WW2?

Nothing to worry about. If the population gets too large, they will begin to eat one another.

200K lawyers?? That's it?
Maybe someone needs to put this into perspective but I am sure the NHL has planty of lawyers that are screwing that thing up, and I am not even a fan.
That's why they have a show on television called Las Vegas and not California.
Lawyers. Vegas.
nuff said.

You would think that with that many lawyers here, even if only one percent of them actually had read the Second Amendment, those two thousand would be able to get us some decent carry laws....

Lawyers: The most hated of professionals -- until you need one!
RL: In all seriousness, how do those break down, i.e. criminal, tort, corporate, divorce(betting that is a big one), tax and those who just have the shingle but don't actively practice law?

I notice that from 1977 the increase is about 4,500 per year. I would guess that this increase coincides with veterans taking advantage of tht G.I. Bill. Also, in a state as large as California, 5K per yearr may not be many. Perhaps the increase in life expectancy has something to do with it. They just aren't dying off fast enough.
I know this was meant to be humorous. Excuse my dreaded cynicism. I have a bad habit of defending unpopular sides of an issue. (Hmm, maybe I should go to law school.) It's more fun than just being a lemming and following the crowd.
