I just got back from SHOT Show 2005, hope that's the correct year
(Ambush Master...)

I'll report in first thing in the morning after I get my brain recentered from what should be record breaking attendance of around 20,000.

I'm really proud of Guy, he lasted three whole days and until the morning of day four when he finally called someone out for a firearm duel.

That's longer than I thought he'd last.

I just read that the 2005 Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show had :

1,725 Exhibitors and was attended by just over 36,600 people.

SHOT Show is held in the Las Vegas Convention Center and uses over 20 acres indoors.

This is the largest firearms show in the world.

This is the largest "big industry" knife show in the world.

It's the largest sporting goods show of it's type in the world. This is not a fishing trade show, it's just like the name says.

The above is just in case someone isn't familar with SHOT Show.

The reason SHOT Show is being mentioned here in ProfessionalSoldiers.com is that the show has a strong military and law enforcement component. This is natural because many manufacturers make product for outdoor, sporting and military- LE work.

Confusing? Not really, think firearms, ammunition, knives, clothing, flashlights, tents, backpacks, optics, hydration units, etc.

The MIL/LE even has it's own display area. Some manufacturers are located only there and other manufacturers have booths in both areas.

After observing this business for 20 plus years I have learned that a lot of stuff being used by the military is developed by private industry. A lot of stuff made by private business was inspired by military equipment. The important part is that it fit's in the "best of" category. Competition for business keeps it this way. This quality of product is what catches the attention of the military operators.

Yes you have to be smart enough to know what's good and what isn't.

This is the thing about SHOT that makes it different from a military or LE show only, the huge selection of new "state of the art" for the whole outdoor world and who's looking at it.

Pics may be limited because the show LAW is that there are no cameras or video recording equipment allowed inside except for registered media people wearing press badges.

There are hired folks inside wearing bright yellow jackets that say "Camera Patrol" and one caught taking pics without the proper creds will be asked to leave the show, escorted out and pass removed if your caught. This is according to the rules.

The reason for all this is to try and limit folks ripping off stuff by getting a visual record of the product and then going anywhere in the world and having it made.

TR had to explain the legal ramifications of competing in duels.

I wonder if the signed waiver would have stood up in court?
