Pat Tillman Triathlon
The first Pat Tillman Triathlon, with all proceeds to benefit the Pat Tillman Foundation, will be held May 8 at Tempe Town Lake.
The event, staged by the Red Rock Company, will feature two distance options: Olympic Distance (1,500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run) and Sprint Distance (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run).
Organizers are hoping for a field of more than 1,000. All participants will receive a No. 42 Tillman Triathlon shirt, in honor of the jersey number he wore at Arizona State University.
Tillman was no stranger to triathlon. During the 2001 football off-season he trained for and competed in the Blackwater EagleMan Half Ironman in Cambridge, Md.
The cost is $45 and $65, plus $9 for USA Triathlon membership. Registration is available at redrocktriathlon.com.
