"More than 20 people were killed and 100 injured in a horrific shooting near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas Sunday night, police said.
The "nonstop gunfire," according to one witness, sent bystanders outside the resort on the Vegas strip ducking for cover and fleeing for their lives. Tourists hid in their hotel rooms and flights headed into the McCarran International Airport airport were held elsewhere. ...."
Well that sucks.
Was shooting from the 32nd floor.

Perp firing from the 32nd floor down onto the parking lot venue. ~ 40K persons in attendance at the concert. SWAT blew the door to his room to end it. Apparently the smoke detector went off in the perps room and that's how SWAT found the guys location. Perp had set up two firing platforms in his room and had baracaded himself in the room.
50 + killed and 200 + injured but the count will surely rise.

I wonder if this means hotels will start full security checks now. They may do that already, but in my little area of the world we don't.

I get the AWMS, there's a lot of messed up sh!t going on around the world but, I don't get the venue? Why a country music festival?
Anyone else think this guy had a fascination with Charles Whitman?
As to the gun it's hard to tell by the way it rolled on. Automatic select/fire or belt-fed, or runaway (broken/modified sear) semi-auto? An AR built since the late 80s I believe to be impossible to do that with. There are rifles accepting 30rd mags that lend themselves to modifications but they will all run until supply is interrupted.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims as well as the members of the Las Vegas PD.
Moving into the kill zone armed with handguns because people were in danger; well done gentlemen.
My hat is off to those that endangered themselves in an attempt to make order out of chaos.
