This is 100% true. I should order the transcript just to hang on my wall. I was testifying in Fed Dist. Court in Honolulu in a case involving an arrest I made where the defendant took a swing at me.
Def: “You testified that as Officers Xxxxx and Xxxxxxx were attempting to handcuff Mr. Xxxx, he pushed officer Xxxxx and then attempted to strike you in the face. You saw this happen?”
Me: “Yes”
Def: “So you were there when it happened?”
Me: “Was I there when he attempted to hit me in the face? Is that the question you just asked? Yes, I was there when he attempted to punch me in face...”
The accompanying visual, between the expression on my face and the body language made it very worthwhile (according to the bailiff). Judge King got a good chuckle out of it too.
