Sports "Hero's" should stick to playing a GAME and STFU!
Last season it was Colin Kapernicks' (49's QB) turn to use his fame to protest something he felt (feelings) very strong about even though he was flat a55 wrong in what he believed (again feelings) and the manner in which he protested: against the National Anthem.
This morning we have Russell Wilson (Seahawks QB) opening his pie hole and interjecting his (beliefs) feelings into the political world of politics. Hey Russell, stick to football and movie cameos and STFU! No one is dying at LAX, or SEA, or any other big city airport you may happen to pass through in your pampered little high security private transportation world to and from a GAME. No one protesting the president has been financially impacted or lost something not gained and no one's rights or protections have been lost because of the election.
Don't become part and player of the hyperbole and hypocrisy shouted from the left!
Play football like a champion or run for office and really see what "leadership" and making hard choices is all about. Sometimes someone gets butt hurt while others rejoice in the process known as civics 101. Your candidate lost because she was the most corrupt, anti-constitutionalist, criminal put forth in American history and the majority of educated hard working people who like to watch football on weekends saw fit to elect the lesser of two evils (maybe even a Saint! Time will tell.) One that would destroy the country for her own benefit and one that would sacrifice his wealth for the betterment of the country he loves.
Russell Wilson on Trump: Don't know if he'll last four years

P.S. Trump has done more in ten days (more good than bad) than Obama did in eight years. Then again you threw a bad pass from the one-yard-line on 2nd and Goal in the final seconds of the Super Bowl and guaranteed a victory for the Patriots so maybe you are simply not the great sports "hero" you think you are.
Play football and keep your feelings to yourself!

The left generally creates negativity and then bemoans the environment of negativity.
They have most certainly exacerbated the toxic atmosphere - just look at their "resistance."
Schumer and Pelosi as "leaders" - I'd be upset, too. IMO, this athlete is misdirecting his anger.

Dear Athletes and other entertainers,
STFU! We don't care about your opinions unless it directly relates to your profession.

Who knows, maybe these two muppets are just pandering to their own local audiences as both San Francisco and Seattle would fall heavily into the Democrat/Hillary camp.
Or maybe conformity bias of the weak minded comes into play.
In any case, I partially blame the extremely low marginal cost of mass communication/media.
When entertainers' audiences grew from dozens to millions, they suddenly think their opinions matter more than the janitor's.

Nate Boyer is a pretty vocal guy just not from that side of the aisle.
Sadly the majority of sheeple place a lot of value in those peoples opinions

I still have much respect for RW both on and off the playing field but, as with all things in political and diplomatic circles...leave personal politics and religion at home.
No man or woman should become a mouthpiece for others and if your personal convictions interfere with your professional life; chose one or the other. Especially if they are incompatible.
When people especially children look up to a person as an example of goodness, honesty and integrity, you have to be that public persona even after the limelight fades. Or you send the wrong message of responsibility.
There is a responsibility that comes with a $20-million/year salary to be a public figure.

I have to say, I don't really accept the concept of a sports hero to begin with.
...you "PLAY" football
...you "PLAY" baseball
...you "PLAY" golf
The NFL strike in the late 80's killed most of my interest in football, and after the MLB strike in 1994, my interest in the entire culture of over-admired, over-covered, over-paid, and over-rated athletes faded into obscurity.
Since then, as I watch pro athlete after pro athlete face drug charges, weapons charges, assault charges, and other random bits of social misbehavior, my interest drifts further away from giving a shit what these goons have to say about anything.
These are grown men that make a multi-million dollar a year living playing team sports and somehow they have convinced themselves that as a result, America is somehow required to listen to them spew forth bullshit from their entitled little pieholes...
...I invite them to come and gaze upon my garden where I grow all of the fucks that I give - they will see that my garden is barren.

I'm there with you Billy, my GAFM broke about the same time as yours and for the same reasons.

Ted Williams comes to mind. Maybe Pat Tillman, too.

All kinds of butt hurt out there in the world.
The one person who doesn't seem to care about talking heads is Donald Trump. And that's good. For far too long our politicians have cowed from doing their jobs because some niche element of society would go on TV, or twitter, or facebook and suddenly the opinion of a few becomes a mandate for America. And it looks like some of the core Republicans are getting on board. Saw today that Sen Hatch went ahead with the vote on Sessions without the Dems in the room. Went to the Senate parliamentarian, changed the rules, and did the vote. All within the procedural rules of the Senate. Good for him.
Also saw news of a Rasumssen poll - apparently 57% of America agrees with Pres. Trump's immigration orders.
The talking heads are losing their ground, just like they did when they predicted the overwhelming win of Hillary Clinton.
So, screw this halfwit sports "hero", and Cher, and Babs, and Baldwin, and the cast of SNL, and all the other pinheads who think they know what's best for America. Looks like America is finally wising up.

Here's the story of another athletic snowflake who feels privileged and needed to "fight" for other human lives by protesting against the government who funded her travels to desolate places like Rio De Janeiro and told her to stay away from the Favelas.
Storm's Breanna Stewart joined LAX protests, was inspired

Hey, join the military, become Civil Affairs or AF Loadmaster and actually go help someone in need. Join the Peace Corps and give up your lucrative high priced contracts and move to someplace, anyplace that has nothing you recognize as a locker room.
Where was that thread awhile back about the 15-18 year old male refugees holed up in British foster homes who look every bit older than 20-something? Maybe these privileged athletes could take some in and provide a life better than that poor misguided orphan Colin Kapernicks.

On the other hand, their opinions of their profession really don't matter either, so there is that...
I think we're getting into a lips on a chicken area. Just plain useless.

We live in a free country, some people have a bigger soap box to stand on than others. If these guys want to use their platforms to speak on things that are important to them, by all means, go for it. It may hurt their brand or ability to make a living, it may not. They assume that risk all on their own, and as big boys and girls, I'm sure they can accept the consequences.

You would think that but we aMEricans can't wait for the spoiled children to get back to playing their game. Look what happened after the MLB players strike...soon as they got their way the fans showed up and paid more for tickets, hotdogs and beer.
Let no lesson in "sportsmanship" go unpunished...even bad sportsmanship.
