Dave Harris

Went to a doctor's appointment this morning and happened to sit next to a guy wearing a Special Forces hat. The only pin I could see was for Vietnam. Anyways, he said that he was still in touch with some guys in Chicago. Was just wondering if anyone knew him. He said his name was Dave Harris and he seemed like a nice guy and definitely sparked my interest. We only got to talk for a second before he had to go.

Was at the Phoenix VA earlier this year, wearing my SF hat. Ran into a guy in his mid to late sixties wearing his SF hat. When I asked him "What SF group were you assigned to?" The answer was a very quick, "I was never Special Forces".

Its all fun and games until a real SF soldier starts asking questions.

Until I joined this site, I never really thought about the nuanced "I was Special Forces" vs. "I was with Special Forces."

This is what I feared but hoped wasn't true.

All over

I ran into a guy at the VA with a 1st Group ballcap on. He said he was a Nam vet. I was in bootcamp when Saigon fell. I went in the day I turned seventeen. This guy was a couple years younger than me. What an azzhole.

Pretending to be something you are not aggravates me tremendously but pretending to be SF at the VA seems like a special breed of stupid.
