Doesn't This Make Your PROUD!!

Vermont is one of the few places that actually have town meetings where folks can rise and make flaming idiots of themselves in public. Here is one of the points that will be discussed in all sincerity in this hotbed of liberal agendas.

"War resolution hearing is tonight

January 10, 2005

The Vermont Network of Iraq War Resolutions (VNOIWR) will hold an informational meeting on Monday, Jan. 10 at The Old Labor Hall in Barre from 7 to 9 p.m. Two VNOIWR organizers, Ben Scotch and Joseph Gainza and a representative of Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) will discuss a drive to bring resolutions about the war in Iraq before March Town Meetings throughout the state, including Barre's.

The resolution focuses on Vermont interests: (1) the role of the Vermont National Guard in this unjust and unnecessary Iraq war, (2) how deployment of Guard members impacts on our local communities, businesses, and families, (3) how we can work to restore powers the states once had with respect to their national guards, and (4) how we can work as Vermonters to bring the war to a prompt end. (Check out www.iraqresolution.org.)

Residents of Barre City and a host of other Vermont communities are asking their fellow voters to sign petitions needed to place the resolution before the voters. At least five percent of the voters in each town and city must sign petitions in order to place the resolution on town warnings.

This whole process is democratic and creates a much-needed forum to discuss these war-related issues – which also happen to be very Vermont-related issues.

Isn't this one of the most honorable things we can do for our Vermont National Guard members and their families?

Marleen Woods Barre"

If they want to control their own NG the answer is simple - form their own militia and pay for it themselves, no federal money, no federal retirement, no medical benefits, no college money etc. Then they can have it their way, just like Burger King. Hell, with enough pickup trucks and deer rifles they could field a mechanized infantry division!

All they need to do is organize the unorganized VT militia.

I have seen some of these folks. They, for the most part, are harmless and many prior service and a good collection of folks that fought with Ethan Allen at Ticonderoga.
