Interstate moving costs??

I have started the move process to North Va.
I would like any and all opines on who to use for the move.

Given all the variables,, I'm trying to do a little comparison of stats..

I have:

3BR/2BA, LR, FR, Kit, 1/3 garage "stuff"
Space Coast Florida to North Va. 900+ miles.
Should not need any storage,, given 2 day transit

Anyone with any moves in the last couple years that kinda,, maybe,, sorta,, might be,, a likely comparison??

All my moves in the last 45 yrs were by me & my truck,, with a little help from friends.

What surprises did you run into??
What would you do over??

Make sure you get a contract with a price, not an estimate.

Damn JJ it gets cold up there!

I don't know much about these guys but I saw an article recently that seemed a good resource for someone moving so I pass it along.

I moved from GA to MD just a few months ago with 12k pounds of HHG (we did everything packed by owner) and the crew just loaded, hauled, and unloaded our crap.

Total price from Mayflower was less than $8k (new job didn't offer relocation assistance).

I moved from ft Bragg to Tampa (retirement) the military obviously paid, but. Had to pay upfront and got reembursed after with a Travel voucher. I rented th largest u-haul/Ryder truck I could. I think in total, it was around $2Gs. But a lot of hard work and back pain.

I would say DIY if you can physically do it, hire someone if you just want take it easy.

DIY is now we moved up from the Keys 4 yrs ago.. BUTT, I am not up to that now. Will probably get a 10-15ft? trailer to put personal toys in and let the pros do the rest.

Thanks for the input..

Definitely get insurance from the mover. Make sure it is a guaranteed cost not an estimate.

You can now join Angie's List for free. Join up and search for movers in your area, get three bids (do not share the cost info with the movers) and choose who you feel you can trust.

My employer just moved me.

Three bedroom house with a bunch of junk we move around. The weight was 13,500 LBS.

Storage costs at the van line company is $680 a month. I don't have costs for the actual move.
