Jon Keyser -- A Real American Hero

One of the candidates running for US Senate here in Colorado, is a fella by the name of Jon Keyser.

He was a State Representative for Colorado CD-25, having won that spot in the 2014 election. He served only ONE year of a two year term, QUITTING at the beginning of this year's legislative session so that, as he says, "I can focus on running for US Senate."

Apparently he can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

The thing is, that one year in CD-25 is the ONLY time he has ever served in ANY political office.

But that isn't what he's pushing his campaign on ... his political experience, or lack thereof. No, he's running on the fact that he is a graduate of the Air Force Academy (Class of 2004 ... Majoring in Spanish and International Development) and ...

"Although he initially planned to be a pilot, Jon decided that, with simultaneous ground wars going on in Iraq and Afghanistan, he could make the biggest impact by serving our country in ground combat.

Jon became an Intelligence Officer and he quickly sought out and volunteered for a sensitive deployment to Iraq. There, he served on an elite special operations team conducting capture/kill missions against our nation’s highest priority targets, including notorious Iranian-backed insurgents and members of Al-Qaeda in Iraq."
(Taken from his US Senate web page ... see below)

He's also touting that he is the recipient of a Bronze Star. His ONLY citation.

"As a first lieutenant, Capt. Jonathan Keyser served in Baghdad, Iraq, from November 2006 to May 2007, as National Security Agency and Central Security Service Foreign Affairs Directorate liaison officer at the United States Embassy in support of OIF. He was frequently subject to lethal direct and indirect enemy rocket, small arms and mortar fire.

According to his citation, Capt. Keyser developed and implemented a unique and effective technique to provide critical force protection and situational-awareness data to ground counter-terrorism operations. His collaborative efforts with Iraqi intelligence elements provided real-time intelligence support to coalition special tactics units, resulting in an incalculable number of Coalition and Iraqi lives saved. During his deployment, Capt. Keyser participated in 31 direct action and counter-terrorism missions, resulting in the capture or elimination of 107 high-value enemy individuals.

1/19/2010 - BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Col. John Bansemer, 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing commander, awarded the Bronze Star to two 566th Intelligence Squadron Airmen Jan. 15 for meritorious service in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom."
(See link below)

The thing of it is, not only is he touting the fact that he was on SpecOps teams conducting capture/kill missions and that he was awarded a BS, he can't seem to keep his story straight on just how many of those capture/kill missions he was on. At one time he said 81, then another it was 89, and still another it was 91. I think at last count he was up to 102 capture/kill mission.

One of my FAVORITE quotes from his US Senate web page is ...

Quote:
The final mission he participated in was to capture or kill the terrorists who, only a few days prior, wounded or killed multiple members of his team. When Jon left Iraq and returned to Virginia, he walked off of the airplane, rented a car, and immediately drove to Arlington National Cemetery to attend the military funeral of a member of his team.

So, as you can see, USAF Reserve Major Jon Keyser is a Real American Hero

"Capt. Keyser participated in 31 direct action and counter-terrorism missions"

That lily white skin and super clean uniforms says otherwise.

I was not aware the Air Force had their own ground combat troops?

(Maybe he shot Bin Laden?)

I suspect the Air Force term for 'participation in' an operation is a bit looser than ours.....as in co ordinated/supported etc.

However, it appears it says that specifically in his award.

Where'd he get the chunker?

Are M79s used for anything besides crowd control now?

It amuses my American friends that we in the SA Army affectionately nicknamed the M79, the Snotneus. This comes from the Snotklap, which is a slap so hard that a streak of blood and snot streaks the slapees face.

Amazing that an O-2 reservist with zero CQB experience and serving as the FAD LNO was the BEST choice to combat advise the host nation tactical unit.

His civilian supervisory chain would not risk their careers so a reservist could play war tourist.

His OEF pictures tell the tale completely.

"non-combatants" holding Special Operations weapon systems........

If I had a penny for every time some combat support, or combat service support, Air Force types etc asked to take a picture of themselves with my or our ODA's weapons.........

I'm sure there are thousands of "non-combatants" with very cool pictures of Special Operations sniper rifles, suppressed weapons, grenade launchers, GAU's, MK 19's, claymores, you name it, hanging on their living room walls...... and even better stories on how they came to be in possession of those weapon systems.

This guy has been a "HOOT" to watch.

First, it was brought to the DoDs attention, that he was using pictures of himself in uniform, while running for an elected office, without the "disclaimer" at the bottom of the picture(s). He just kind of blew it off when asked, saying, it really doesn't apply to him. He got his pee-pee smacked by the DoD and told to put up the disclaimer .... He did.

Next, he didn't make the ballot, because one of the districts didn't have the required amount of signatures. He took it to court and cried that he did have enough. The judge took pity on him and said to put him on the ballot.

But the biggest thing about his signatures was ....

It came to be known, that several of the signatures on the petition were forgeries, including someone who had died 3 years ago.

When pressed about this, all Jon could say was "I'm on the ballot."

It seems that the firm that the Keyser camp hired to collect signatures, had someone not very "honest." As the story unfolded, and a background check was done on this person, she had forged signatures on other petitions back east. Had been arrested and placed on probation. Looks like she didn't learn her lesson and got caught. She's now sitting in the Denver Jail awaiting trial.

The Keyser camp was "unaware" of any of these, even though they claimed they check ... oh I'm sorry .... TRIPLE checked each and every signature before turning them in the the COSECSTATE office.

But hey ... he was still "On The Ballot."

Now, his military "achievements" are being called into play by other senatorial candidates. It seems that he was making himself out to be more than he seemed to be. ... http://www.denverpost.com/2016/06/10...aq-war-record/

So .... his camp released these documents (see bottom of the page) .... http://www.denverpost.com/2016/06/09...ate-candidacy/ ... to verify his claims.

Enjoy ....

Of note, with almost five candidates looking to petition on statewide finding quality firms to collect those signature became an issue. The last candidate was going to petition on until he found out there were just not enough Republicans to go around in some Districts. Jon Keyser was the first petitioning candidate to declare and should have gotten the pick of the firms. Instead he settled for the firm that primarily collects signatures for Democrats and liberal initiatives...

It would be interesting to see what the Secretary of State would fined if they looked at previous petitions submitted by that firm and/or that signature gatherer...
