Roderick Allison was named the Assistant Administrator for
the Office of Inspection in August 2012. Mr. Allison is
responsible for ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and
effectiveness of the TSA’s workforce, operations, and
programs through objective audits, covert testing, inspections,
and criminal and administrative investigations.
Before becoming Assistant Administrator, Mr. Allison served
as the Deputy Assistant Administrator/Deputy Director for
the Transportation Security Administration’s Office of Law
Enforcement/ Federal Air Marshal Service. In this capacity,
Mr. Allison served as senior advisor to the TSA
Administrator and Deputy Administrator on TSA’s strategic
and operational direction for law enforcement and FAMS
operations. Mr. Allison directed the deployment of federal
law enforcement assets in the aviation and transportation
domain, provided support to counterterrorism and
investigative operations, and provided support to federal, state
and local law enforcement agencies during incidents of
national significance.
Mr. Allison was a Federal Air Marshal prior to September 11, 2001 and returned to the FAMS in 2002 as the Assistant to the Special Agent-in-Charge, Washington Field Office where he supervised mission-status Federal Air Marshals. Mr. Allison has held several leadership positions within the FAMS, to include: Executive Assistant to the Director; Deputy Assistant Director, Office of Administrative and Technical Services; TSA Chief Security Officer; Assistant Director, Office of Security Services and Assessments; and Assistant Director, Office of Flight Operations.
Prior to his employment with TSA, Mr. Allison worked as a Criminal Investigator with the Office of the Inspector General, United States Postal Service. While at the Inspector General’s Office, Mr. Allison received the Award for Excellence from the Executive Council on Integrity and Efficiency in recognition of an outstanding investigative achievement. Mr. Allison’s professional career began in 1985 with 13 years in the United States Army. Mr.Allison’s supervisory and operational experience included assignments at the National Security
Agency, Ft. Meade, MD; 7th Special Forces Group, Ft. Bragg, NC; and the Office of Military Support, Military District of Washington.
Mr. Allison earned a B.A. in Psychology from Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, NC and a M.A. degree in Security Management from Webster University, St. Louis, MO. Mr. Allison has attended executive development courses at Duke University, Harvard Kennedy School, and the Federal Executive Institute.
