Officer Down! Pete Malloy, 1 Adam 12, Dead at 83.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Martin Milner, whose wholesome good looks helped make him the star of two hugely popular 1960s TV series, Route 66 and Adam-12, has died. He was 83.

I was always a fan of Martin Milner. "Adam-12" was a great role for him, as was "Route 66". Rest In God's Own Peace .

I remember him in "The Sands of Iwo Jima" as well.

I remember him well as a kid when I watched Adam 12.
As an adult, I'm probably more interested in finding the shrinking number of rural small town America sights as in Route 66 when I visit the U.S. On scenic back country rides.
What I'd like to know is what happened to him in later life?
He'd certainly fall in the category of "highly trusted" by a very large cohort of Americans.
Which has great value to American corporate marketing departments.
I don't recall ever seeing him shilling products and services like so many of his "I'm not a doctor but I've played one on TV" peer group.
I understand that TV standards didn't allow certain realistic content to be more accurately portrayed on TV in the 60's-70's, but what a huge gulf between Adam-12, Rookies, compared with Southland in recent years.
Wouldn't it be cool if an outfit like Netflix could bring back Adam-12 and Emergecy! done properly?

If you can get it, MeTV (Memorable Entertainment TV) have both on. Adam-12 at Noon on weekdays & Emergency! on between 4 and 6 PM (ET).
Ooops. Sorry. I just noticed your location: New Zealand. I guess you won't be able to see those programs after all.

Funny thing about both Adam 12 and Emergency is that they were mostly filmed in the San Fernando Valley where the permits were cheaper, but still within the 30 mile zone (TMZ). The "1" in the call sign 1-Adam-12 was Rampart Division, downtown, so that wasn't, in reality, too far from the SFV. But Emergency's Squad 51 firehouse was actually in Wilmington near the LA Harbor. It was pretty funny watching the Squad or Fire Truck drive by the refineries then respond to Whiteman Airport WAY out in the valley. 
Both shows show what real smog looked like. What people call smog in the LA basin today is just ocean haze caught in the basin. When I first moved to LA in '76, you could taste the air and there were days that schools were not allowed to let the kids out for recess. They keep tweaking the EPA "clean air" particulate numbers down to make it look like LA air is still dirty. It's not.
The big contrast between both shows and now it to see how big the trees have grown over the years. LA was pretty barren back then compared to now.
BTW, Route 66 is available on Hulu.
