As long as humanity exists...we will find things to be utilized as weapons to use against each other for the purposes of maiming and killing.
It's only a matter of time before pens, pencils, and cooking utensils will have to be registered as weapons.

UK logic per OP currently appears to run along the lines of...don't be a victim...by not defending yourself.
That line of thinking won't embolden the bad guys.
Who, of course, will comply as all bad guys do and will have turned in all their knives.
