Attaining security clearance

Gentlemen,

First, forgive me if this is not the most appropriate sub-forum for this question.

I'm in the process of enlisting in the ARNG and choosing an MOS. My specific goal is to be in the required year before trying out for SF.

The one snag I have run into is that of traffic citations. I received 13 (yes, I know) between 2005 and 2012. No smoking, no drugs, no alcohol, no sex (strict religious college). Without justifying it, perhaps I would say that I was often rushing to and from work/school (FT at both, usually an hour apart) and enjoyed the speed. No excuses. All fines were less than $300. All but one were deferred/reduced to non-moving (but, of course, that doesn't matter in this situation).
I have been told by a recruiter that more than five tickets will result in DQ from a Secret clearance. I wished to go 13F, as I thought this would be both interesting and valuable in regards to a future in SF. However, both SF and 35F require the Secret clearance.
Is my understanding of the tickets/disqualification accurate? I have asked this in another location and have reviewed Google results on the topic, but answers seem to be conflicting. Any insight that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.

The only answer that matters will be on the contract you are offered.

Recruiting can be very picky right now.

Good luck, Sammy Hagar.

Your recruiter isn't a clearance investigator. If he doesn't give you what you want, go to someone else. Just remember to always be honest..

Thank you, gentlemen.

I'll plan on pushing for a 13F contract and if I don't get the clearance...making darn sure I'm ready for a readiness assessment.
