Sounds like some SF serendipity.

I can empathize. I just marched with a platoon- of Gurkhas on ANZAC Day (jealous of the Kukri right in front of me) in our own city that got smashed by a series of quakes 4 years ago.

It would be pretty interesting to see how the guys on the ground and their ground truth assessments feed into the US foreign policy disaster response as well as that of allies countries and any decent NGOs.

I remember our first week post quake here......incredibly high tempo, lots of improvisation/latitude/discretion.
