ISO Didgeridoo

ALCON,

If anyone happens to have a didgeridoo in their toughbox, I'd like to take it off your hands. I primarily play drums, but I've recently taken quite an interest in the didgeridoo.

I'm in the market for anything less than $100 USD. I'll pay shipping! Thanks for looking.

Oh.... the jokes that could be made about a guy playing with his didgeridoo....

Looks like a fun fork in the road for a drummer/percussionist. Just curious if you've tried any of the online shops. Or are you looking for something from woods native to Oz?

I've looked at online shops, and the ones based out of the .au are out of my range ($200-$800) for authentic pieces. I don't necessarily need an authentic piece yet, just a beginner/semi authentic piece which is probably sold all over, I just couldn't come up with any good deals

Figuring that many folks here have trained/deployed with the Aussies, I thought maybe someone brought a few home, and could maybe spare one for a decent price.

Why not make your own? You save money and get satisfaction (or possibly frustration) of making the instrument.

Check out this site.....http://www.didjiman.com/didjeridu/didge-make.htm
Others available as well as YouTube.

For a basic didg, you can use PVC and beeswax. 1 1/2" - 2" diameter bamboo works pretty good. The bamboo should be sufficiently cured/dried (not green).....minimum 2-3 months.

It's the mouthpiece of beeswax that's the key.......in addition to learning the re-breathing technique (never did master that part!).

Back in 1996, as an instructor at a primitive skills camp in NC, I heard an aboriginal play one at night when we gathered around the campfire.....beautiful sound.
