Ground Cumin recall!!!!! (contains peanut proteins !)

Those allergic to peanuts need to read this!!!!!!

FDA Consumer Advice on Products Containing Ground Cumin with Undeclared Peanuts

Key Advice

The FDA is advising people who are highly allergic to peanuts to consider avoiding products that contain ground cumin or cumin powder, because some shipments of these products have tested positive for undeclared peanut protein. People who are highly allergic or sensitive to peanuts may be at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction. Ground cumin may be sold as a spice, in a spice mix or kit, or as a minor ingredient when used in finished food products like soups and chilies. Most finished products are expected to have low amounts of ground cumin, and therefore low amounts of peanut protein. Products made before 2014 are unlikely to contain the affected ground cumin.

One thing I find interesting is that it doesn't provide manufacturer/brand details?

I wonder if that might indicate US manufacturer/brand(they might be more willing to throw a foreign manufacturer/brand under the bus)

On a related note, our family(with young kids) stopped consuming anything produced/processed in China after reading some horror stories about China's food industry(like a cross between Bladerunner and Upton Sinclair).

But it can actually be really hard to identify production/processing location on food labeling.

We just had a story a few days ago about a bunch of folks in Australia diagnosed with Hepatitis as a result of frozen berries produced/processed in China.

Yeah, agree, I do not purchase anything edible from China to include dog snacks.......what did they recently kill like 500+ dogs in the USA due to bad dog treats.......

Seriously!?!?

Just checked the dog treats...made in China.

Our Eucanuba dog food goes in a big dog food barrel, so no bag to check....

Eukanuba is fine. The treats from china are really really bad, especially the chicken.

It's almost hard to believe that tiny of an amount can harm folks!
