Yep....the most stupid play call I can remember in football....1 yard for a touchdown, 3 plays to score and you've got Marshaun Lynch.... and somebody says hey let's pass it...

A fraction of a second difference in timing and it would have been the most brilliant play called in history.

Well, maybe the luckiest. It still would have been dumb.
Besides, the O coordinator never really deliberately used his quarterbacks running ability. Hell, it's the final drive of the superbowl with a touchdown giving you the go-ahead win. You dig into the playbook and pull out all the stops .

It's a far worse PR nightmare for the NFL with the Pats winning... If they had lost, then you can say "see...we protected the balls and they couldn't win"...
