I did not want to hijack the thread above, it is an important discussion, but the comments offer us a rather interesting opportunity to explore a possible future. Especially, since, imo, that SF utilizes the social sciences in various circumstances to accomplish its missions. That said, what would a possible future look like if money did not exist and status was not linked to money, but achievement for the great good.
Parameters for this discussion.
1. We have been transitioning from an industrial economy to a knowledge economy. This important and often cited paper by Russell Acroff attest and outlines the history of that transition in a clear and straight forward way. Well worth the read and is foundational to the proposed discussion here.

2. Most, if not all of our problems are of social origin in context to culture.
3. No Brave New world Constructs or Orwellian futures.
4. The envisioned future is a meritocracy.
5. Money for exchange does not exist.
6. Education is available to all, over the entire lifespan.
7. We are morally and ethically responsible to all members of society.
8. There will be free riders.
9. There will be non-conformist.
10. There will be psychopaths who behave criminally.
