Angry Buy American??

Folks: I saw on the news last night that soldiers are losing their jobs while in the Middle East. Those companies are really “Un-American” IMNSHO!!

I know that there are probably many loop holes which will make government sanctions difficult if not outright impossible. The first one to come to mind is the fact that all soldiers today are volunteers.

However, I see nothing wrong with private citizens producing a data base (black list) of such employers and boycotting them.

Overall, industry has been pretty supportive. Many even pay the difference between military pay and what the soldier would otherwise make.
Perhaps a simple sign on the door would reward them: “This Store supports our fighting men!”.

Here's a list of American companies "going beyond the call of their legal responsibility and helping the men and women called to active duty by not only paying them the legally-required minimum, but by either making up the difference between their active-duty stipend and their usual salary, or even by paying their usual salary in full:" http://www.coldfury.com/HF/

This site has a lot of good info, along with a link to the Reserve Officer's Association website: http://www.ncbar.org/public/proBonoP...EagleList.aspx

Forbes used ROA's survey of benefits paid to compile a list of the "Ten Best Employers of Reservists:" http://www.forbes.com/2003/03/21/cx_...1reserves.html

Support those who support the troops.

Good info!! I did a quick comparison of a few companies: Loew's/Home Depot; and Wal-Mart/K-Mart.
