Lone Wolf Attack on Two NYPD Officers

It looks like there's been another attack, this time with a hatchet. This could be an IS lone wolf or it could be a crazy bastard being crazy (initial reports indicate the latter.) The lesson here is SA, always, always, always.

The link to facebook down below is possibly (heavy emphasis on possibly) this mans facebook. If it infact proves to be his facebook than this does look IS related.

EDIT: It would seem Zales Thompson's facebook page has been taken down. Given the timeing of this, it may be a safe assumption that this was Thompsons facebook. Will have to wait for the official word on that. That aside, the NYPD has declared this an act of terrorism.

Or possibly a reaction to a video, or maybe angst over Ferguson, or it could be a reaction to the 2 NYPD officers caught on camera throwing their Ebola garments in a public trash can....but I am sure it has nothing to do with Islam or Terrorism.

This is the city - there are 11 million stories to be told...and this guy was another termite mound of zaniness looking for an Aardvark to come along and put him out of his misery.

And so it goes...

Have to assume the cops back(s) were turned or he would not have gotton that close. On the other hand if the cops were facing the guy the whole action vs reaction OODA loop thing was in play. Either way...god damn...that probably dosen't make it on your personal daily threat matrix while getting ready for work. Jesus.

I imagine it takes a second or two to process...."oh look, a crazy guy with an ax is running at me"....

Yep - another pathetically unfulfilled life sucked into the theological septic tank of illogical beliefs, unfillable promises, perceived cultural slights, and scripturally advocated vengeance.

Meanwhile - there's an on-going situation out here today that so far has 2 Sheriff Deputies and an attempted car-jacking victim being shot.

So it goes..

As a New Yorker, I'm surprised by how little coverage this got even in this city. Last week was chaotic. We had Ebola-related events in Texas and NY, a terrorist killed someone in Canada, a high school in Washington was shot up, and on lighter news the mid-term elections are coming up and a World Series is going on.

America is so swamped with news that this incident in our own town only gets like 30 seconds of coverage at a time. Look at www.NY1.com to see where the hatchet story is on the main page. When I checked, it was the LAST article at the bottom of the page after Ebola news, a 4-year-old girl beaten to death at a homeless shelter, and city art.
