New travel pay rates mean less money for TDY

http://www.armytimes.com/article/201...less-money-TDY

Across the board, per diem rates will be slashed for long-term assignments, and troops will have to pay for a few more things with out-of-pocket cash.

...its funny how ten years of war takes it toll on the pocket book of those doing the fighting and not those CAUSING or EXTENDING the fighting

c'est la même chose

Gotta cut costs in order to pay for studies and surveys from the RAND corporation in order to assess the overall feasibility of making unequal things equal.

The smart ones will just cut 30 day orders and amend them to get around the new rules. Really the only ones it hurts are the troops.

If the AF would quit sending their airmen TDY DOD would not have to enact these changes.

AF declared our building at Ban Me Thout (CCS) substandard.
Air crews drew extra money.

That still happens.

We had digs in AFG in 2006 that we thought were palacial . Wood SEA huts with heat (for the most part and once we got the wiring fixed)...AF pax came out for a while and they considered what we had as substandard. Whatever. It was much better than the GP Med / Afgan mud huts that we were living in the trip before that.
