This is just like everything with DC, helping out people make money. Pocket lining at its finest!!

I can tell you about a Friends wife who is part owner in a catering business in the DC area. During the sequestration and Government shut down. Her company, which always provides breakfasts and caters different events on the Hill about every two to three weeks, had two breakfast meeting "jobs."

Typical Breakfast is Donuts, bagels, cut fruits, yogurt and Breakfast drinks. some times they have to "special" culture or dietary guidelines for visitors. We all know how a breakfast will cost. Well the House or Senate staffers set up the menu and a bit goes out. Everyone she say knows what the price range they are looking for each one of these. Lets just say they start at 10K for 20-30 people she said. From Breakfast!! Keep in mind this was during the sequestration period. I ask her about it because of seeing a article over one cost 20K +. She confirmed, "yeap that's been the going rates from the last 8 to 10 years."
