Brevard County Florida buys 18 Apache Helo's??
Brevard County buys ATTACK helo's??
These choppers have TWO(2) seats.
One for the PILOT and one for the WEAPONS OFFICER.
They are not for search & rescue.
They are not equipped for fire fighting.
They are not used in parades.
They can't mow lawns.
WTF, Why does Brevard County needs ATTACK HELICOPTERS???
OBTW, they costs 144,000,000. That does not include parts, maintenance, crews, & fuel.

Someone watched Blue Thunder and thought it was actually a good idea. Get the tax payer to pay for their thermal images of naked aerobics....
Does the Value column mean they spent that much? Also, are they really AH-64s? The reference images only list Rotary Wing Aircraft.....
Using the searchable database, I see that my county LEO are ready to fix bayonets having acquired over 130....They did pick op a boatload of .45 handguns, 5.56 rifles, and some 7.62 rifles of some flavor.

I would be skeptical of "DC Clothesline". Also, the "database" that they link to is SHTFplan.com (Shit Hit The Fan) database, not the actual one from the Defense Logistics Agency that they cite.

Says "helicopter, rotary wing" I didn't see AH-64, are we sure they are Apaches?
Not to mention, why would they have to buy them? The US Guv has a great lend-lease act going on, what with all the MRAPs et.al.

$18M is about what a UH-60 costs - an AH-64 costs around $50M and is currently being flown by 14 nations (according to Boeing).
I'd question the assertions of the sorces, too, but conspiracy laced blogospheric hyperbole is a big seller these days.

The author did an update and says:
Quote:
***Author’s Update 6:00 PM: After publishing this article I found some time to do some more comparison shopping and there is no way that I can verify that these are in fact Apache Helicopters. New Apaches cost upwards of $50 Million. In 2011 that number would have been somewhat less and they could have been used equipment so it is still very possible. I found some old numbers earlier in the neighborhood of 15 million but new 2013/2014 prices are nowhere near that low. Let’s just take this information on the premise of this county spending 144 million dollars on eight helicopters. Whether they are Apaches or something somewhat less lethal, it is still quite the expenditure for a single county in the span of less than two months. There are some military grade helicopters that can be had new for $18 million even in 2014. So even if they are something different, they are likely something very unorthodox for police to be flying on the taxpayer’s dime. Chances are VERY GOOD that these are military grade helicopters. ***End of Update***
