Almanac predicts colder winter, hotter summer

Almanac predicts colder winter, hotter summer

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...08-20-15-08-00

"CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- The Old Farmer's Almanac, the familiar, 223-year-old chronicler of climate, folksy advice and fun facts, is predicting a colder winter and warmer summer for much of the nation.

Published Wednesday, the New Hampshire-based almanac predicts a "super-cold" winter in the eastern two-thirds of the country. The west will remain a little bit warmer than normal...."

Down deeper in the story they claim the OFA has an 80% success rate in it's forecasts.

Looks like the Global Warmers are going to have another bad winter.

I do not know about the rest of the country but Iowa has experienced its coolest summer since 1953. it's been kinda like fall came early and that is not a complaint.

During my short stint in the movie biz, my job was putting together the “best guess”, preliminary, below-the-line budget in order to shop the script. The biggest, and most expensive, variable was exterior location weather. For a film that was to be largely shot at the Grand Canyon I used the OFA and factored in 3 days of inclement weather. The “real” production company bought tons of NOAA and private company meteorological data and allowed for no lost days. They had nearly 5 days lost to bad weather. Historical data doesn't factor in things like animal behavior, wooly caterpillars, and other natural factors understood only through experience.

It has been cooler here this summer; and dryer that is was last year.

As for global "warming", the "experts" are all in total agreement, it's Bush's fault. Has been all along.

It's been a very mild summer here...I think only 5 days over 90 degrees or something like that.
