http://www.soc.mil/UNS/Releases/2014...140808-02.html
RELEASE NUMBER: 140808-02
DATE POSTED: AUGUST 8, 2014
PRESS RELEASE: MISOC units re-designate as PSYOP
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Aug. 8, 2014) - All Military Information Support Operations Command (MISOC) units at Fort Bragg, N.C., have re-designated as Psychological Operations (PSYOP) units effective Aug.5, 2014.
The former 4th and 8th Military Information Support Groups (Airborne) are now the 4th Psychological Operations Group (POG) (Airborne) and the 8th Psychological Operations Group (POG) (Airborne), with their subordinate units being called Psychological Operations Battalions (POB). MISOC will retain its namesake for the time being.
This re-naming of PSYOP units will not affect any unit organization or operations as 4th and 8th POG continue to operate.
For inquiries, contact the MISOC Public Affairs Officer at 910-432-6005.

That's because MISOC was never more than provisional. Now that they're rolling under 1st SFC(A)(P) (also provisional, funny enough!) and will no longer get to pretend to "Command" status, it makes sense to allow them their original designation again. Course that's MOO - the POG(ue)s (cool how that works out) might disagree.

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Nothing ever changes....
Geez, I wonder how much money was spent in changing all the signs, letterhead, patches, etc, etc, when they went from POG to MISO and back again.
Tho this will put an end to the "MISO Horny" jokes that were heard all the time at drill.

The "MISO horny" jokes are only because Special Forces Soldiers (the 18 series kind, not the USSOCOM defined specialforces)
Anyway...
its a matter a jealousy: SF guys are jealous that MISO troops when deployed get to grow better beards than their 18 series counterparts.
