Casey Leon Shook Ranger Special Forces ? Hell No

Matthew Casey is completely wrong or just falsifying a news story.... we'll soon find out. An astute real Special Forces soldier sent me the "story" below. The "story" states that Casey Leon Shook was a "former Army Ranger and special forces member". I have Casey Leon Shook's real military records, he was a 54B--chemical operations specialist. Too bad Mr. Casey and AZCENTRAL do not believe in "research" or "due diligence". Attached are the real military records of Casey Leon Shook.

Trial to begin for Buckeye ex-officer's sex-abuse case

Matthew Casey, The Republic | azcentral.com 10:48 p.m. MST July 3, 2014

Jury selection began Thursday in the trial of a former Buckeye police officer who, according to police, told an underage girl that he would pay for her to attend college if she agreed to be his lover when she turned 18.

A grand jury indicted Casey Leon Shook in June 2011 on nine counts of sexual conduct with a minor, three counts of voyeurism, three counts of kidnapping, two counts of sexual abuse, one count of indecent exposure, one count of aggravated assault and one count of threatening and intimidating a person.

The aggravated-assault charge was dismissed in May, according to online court records.

Shook, now 42, was arrested more than three years ago in Florida after a teenage girl told police that he had been having sexual contact with her for years, police said. Shook had been in the Sunshine State preparing to work overseas as a K-9 handler, according to police documents.

The Arizona Republic does not identify sex-crime victims.

The Buckeye Police Department declined to comment on the upcoming trial.
Robert Campos, Shook's lawyer, did not respond to an interview request made Wednesday.

Shook, a former Army Ranger and special forces member, started working for the Buckeye Police Department in September 2007, police records show. He had previously worked as a police officer in Washington state.

Story Highlights

Casey Leon Shook was a member of the Buckeye police department for about three years

Shook was fired by Buckeye and later arrested for multiple sex crimes with children

Shook is also a former Army Ranger, special forces member and police officer in Washington

Apparently, law enforcement does not believe in background checks.

You would think they would just check with the FBI and the military or NPRC for people claiming service.

Actually unless they are getting a federal security clearance they have no system to get verification of service except asking for their DD214. Hell it surprised me also when I found it out a while back......

There was a guy claiming SEAL we arrested in FL a while back and the only way they could verify was contact me and I went to a POC I knew.

Big government is not as connected as you would think.

This had nothing to do with law enforcement, this time. I'm asking Matthew Casey of AZCENTRAL where he got his information. So far no one from AZCENTRAL has contacted me. Funny that.

Matthew Casey AZCENTRAL The Arizone Republic (A Gannett Company)

I'm guessing that Matthew Casey AZCENTRAL The Arizone Republic A Gannett Company does not really give a crap if they are publishing lies in the news.

I sent an email to about seven folks that work for those companies and not one response.

Again Casey Leon Shook was never a Ranger or Special Forces soldier as reported by Matthew Casey of AZCENTRAL The Arizona Republic, A Gannett Company. It was a pure lie and false reporting.

Done TS Sir!

Last I checked, if you falsify facts and publish, you get fired!

Holly

edited to add my little email...

"Dear AZ Republic Editor and staff,

Is it not true that, if you falsify your facts, you get fired?

That is the way Real Journalists operate I do believe, they verify facts before publishing them? Otherwise, they are open to lawsuits, defamation claims, and ultimate unemployment?

Maybe you were all just tired, been a long week, and wanted to make deadline regardless of verification?

Well, I can tell you that you picked the WRONG bunch of Americans to upset by falsely publishing the story about Casey Leon Shook being a Special Forces qualified soldier.

REAL SF MEN shed blood, sweat, and tears for This Country, and some even lose their lives.

They take it very seriously when imposters use their reputation for financial gain, and SO DO I!

You should all be ashamed of yourselves, and honestly, I do not know how you sleep at night.

You need to make it right, or god help you all in the fallout!

Holly"

This is a case where the editor and or the paper itself should be sued by the SFA this type of irresponsible reporting defames those that do serve past present and future. There are enough real debauchery that we in uniforn must overcome as far as stigmas why should a media reporter be allowed to use sensationalism boosted by a purposeful lack of diligence to sell a story. We that have served honorably should not have to deal with stigma that this lie builds.

Per the Arizona Republic's webpage, the person to contact for corrections to published stories is Philip Boas. His direct dial work number is 602-444-8292. As of this writing, that line is active.

I respectfully recommend that non-QPs who make the decision to call Mr. Boas about the erroneous reporting do so from a position of good faith. As the piece points out, the incorrect information comes from the Buckeye Police Department.

I'm sure Matthew Casey of AZCENTRAL The Arizona Republic, A Gannett Company will show us the "documents" he has showing that Casey Leon Shook was a Ranger & "special forces".

In any case no one from any of those "news" companies has emailed me or called. I have spoken to one person that was CC'ed on the list and a non-news media person so I know the email was received.

My guess is they are conducting and assessing damage control especially when they have been caught red handed printing false news stories.

Matthew Casey of AZCENTRAL The Arizona Republic, A Gannett Company did call me yesterday. (and just now)

Now Matthew Casey of AZCENTRAL The Arizona Republic, A Gannett Company wants to know where I received my documents.

I guess Matthew Casey of AZCENTRAL The Arizona Republic, A Gannett Company doesn't know that ProfessionalSoldiers.com has been busting "special forces" frauds for over a decade now.

Matthew Casey of AZCENTRAL The Arizona Republic, A Gannett Company look up my name and "Special Forces Fraud Bill Hillar" I worked with the FBI on that case also and BTW the FBI didn't ask me if my "documents" were real......

Seems that Gannett-held companies have a tradition to uphold concerning responsible reporting.
