Under Secretary of the United States Army Brad Carson
Lead by example - to some, it's more than just a slogan.
FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- The Under Secretary of the Army, Hon. Brad Carson, discusses weapons systems with a Special Forces Soldier during a walkthrough on Range 37, Fort Bragg. Hon. Carson met with USASOC Soldiers to gain firsthand knowledge of Army Special Operations Forces and their capabilities. (U.S. Army Photo by Sgt. Daniel Carter, USASOC Public Affairs)

And so it goes...

No umbrella for him
No umbrella for him - and the Combat Diver should have looked happier.

That's exactly what I would expect from an Okie, Baylor grad, military service veteran, and tribal member of the Cherokee nation! Let's hope we can keep him and his kind in the service to this great nation.
Great post Richard. Where there is one, there must be others. A reason for hope.

Its a shame that we have such quality representation in DC these days that a VIP standing in the rain for a demonstration that was only set up so he could see it, is considered our best example of leading by example.
Hats off to the Undersecretary.
...now, why wasn't that mod-demo set up with some overhead cover?
Maybe the SWO was busy that day and didn't have time to read the weathetr forecast.

I did several on Red Cycle one for the SFA at Carlisle, PA (03) and one at USASOC for incoming Ambassadors (I don't remember the year) at each one, we had the tents put up and it never rained. Does the SWO ever work?
Aim low, go SWO!!!
PS. At the SFA convention, I got to meet Gary Beikirch (MOH, RVN) and Surgeon Gen Richard Carmona (SF Medical Sergeant, RVN)

COL Andrea Thompson. She was my company tactical officer during my senior year at West Point. She's a great person and a great leader...

Rich Carmona is one of the best men I have ever known. He has accomplished a lot with his life and his story is truly inspirational and aspirational. He is the embodiment of Kipling's "IF". I am proud to call him Brother and honored that he has chosen to advise me in my current Company.
