Without people can you have a military? Looks like the US is going to do it's best to find out.

Any changes made will not be reversed when they find out it killed retention.

Exactly.

Remember all of the screwing around with retirement benefits back in the 80s?

That lasted until you couldn't recruit or retain quality soldiers any more.

Then they changed it back.

Unfortunately, by that time, they lost a lot of good troops.

And the fix always costs more than if they had left it alone.
