Yeah, probably.
We had a few 19+ year olds in my class that had been held back a year or two.
He prob didn't contest it.

As I recall High School students were stautorially exempt. Maybe he enlisted and told everybody he got drafted?

Could be he volunteered for the draft like I did......only a 2 year tour that way and as far as anyone knows you're a draftee.
