Recycling pickle juice

I finished a Claussen dill pickle pack last week but didn't want to waste the juice. In the past we have used it in various recipes like meatloaf. I did an internet search and some suggested re-using it for...pickling. Who would have thought!

So, I hard-boiled 4 eggs and plopped them in the jar. I let them pickle a week and pulled out a couple for lunch, today, and made egg salad. The eggs had a mild dill flavor and, with the Miracle Whip, mustard, sweet pickle relish, salt and pepper, it came out great.

Any suggestions for future uses of pickle juice? (Keep it clean. )

I re-pickle hollow-peno peppers. I put fresh whole or sliced peppers in the jay (sic-siri: Jar) and leave them for a month. The longer the better.

I have used dill, bread-n-butter, and sweet gherkin juice.

Great for pizza, stews, salsa, salad, deli samich's..

Dill pickle juice is the best whiskey chaser ever.

Are you going for cross-thread points talking about putting things in the 'jay?

I think it would be extremely uncomfortable to put hot peppers in the 'jay if it's anything like taking a leak after cutting up hot peppers and forgetting to wash hands/remove gloves first.

Sounds good. My wife put up a quart of jalapeños last year. The dill flavor would be a good change.

If they can't tell the difference between a 'peño and a cucumber, they have no reason to be poking around in my fridge.

Put it in an ice tray and freeze it. Can be used for most anything you use ice for and will give a dill taste. Give that mixed drink a new twist.

Now THAT'S interesting. I'm going to have to pass that along.

Used to have a dispatcher at my old place who used to drink a BIG glass of pickle juice from the jar every so often.

Used to that she was weird ..... In fact, I still do.

Maybe that's why. I'm with TR on this, but tell me what brand of whiskey you chase with it and I'll give it a shot.

I hear it's good following a "Sniper shot". You snort some salt, take a shot of mezcal, then squeeze the juice from a lemon wedge in your eye. The pickle juice is used to throw in the face of the guy(s) that suggested you take a Sniper shot

WHen I worked as an Athletic Trainer for Minor League Hockey & Baseball we used it to help with blisters.

If you ever have blisters on your fingers take the old jar and soak your fingers in the juice. Helps reduce the blister.

We used to have the ladies in the concession stand save the big jars(Gallon size) of just the juice and had at least one in the fridge all the time.

I herd it from an old trainer when I first started and thought he was crazy!
Never found it in any text book.
