I watched a rather haunting made-for-TV movie, from 1970, that I had not seen (or heard of) before: Sole Survivor. It stars 3 leading TV actors of the ‘60s, Vince Edwards, Richard Basehart, and William Shatner and is loosely based on the discovery of a long lost B-24, the
Lady be Good in the Libyan desert in 1958 and the recovery of all but one of the crew members in 1960.

I actually found Sole Survivor after watching a youtube video about a visit to the crash site of a C-53 and CG-4 glider near Lake Castaic north of Los Angeles. How did we ever live without the internet?

ETA: Come to think of it, The Flight of the Phoenix was probably also loosely based on the LBG story.
