Stupid Lawsuits
Why do things cost so much?
Litigation.

Clearly the design and installation companies' fault.
Always go for a settlement with the deep pockets....

I'd rather not have the injury at 10x the settlement.

Agreed this would not be a pleasant way to live out the rest of your life. Part of his settlement from his moronic relatives should be that they have to wash his ass for the rest of his life.

In this blameless litagious society that we live in the portable toilet company just had the misfortune of being caught up in some other people's bad judgement and behavior. Maybe they should file suit against the pranksters.
When I was in High School a friend of mine had a pool party one warm Saturday afternoon and one of the people there decided to push him into the deep end, anyway, he hit the back of his neck on the edge of the pool and suffered the same fate as the guy in the above story. I wasn't there when it happened but visited him in the hospital a few days later. I just kind of stood there in disbelief and looked at him while he was laying there. He was only 18 years old.

That's what I was thinking...if you ran a small business, and wanted to be ethical and put out a safe product, there is still no way you can overcome the limitless list of stupid stuff people will do with your product.
Even as an individual, we have to protect ourselves. At my annual insurance review, my insurance guy convinced me to get an umbrella policy attached to my homeowner's policy. That will protect me if someone does something bone-headed on my property or with my possessions, and sues me, even if they were trespassing or it was their fault/negligence.

Anyone that is worth any money at all should have an umbrella policy. They are relatively cheap, and will help you sleep well at night.

Agreed, but the insurance company will not sell you one unless you know the magic words: My financial adviser advised me to get one.
