I submit the case of one Melvin Gerard Slack Jr, a mayoral candidate in Shreveport, LA.

If he enlisted in the Navy, and was then bounced out of Navy boot camp on March 27, 1989 with a Trainee Separation Discharge (uncharacterized), isn't there at least a waiting period, if not a waiver required, to ever attempt to enlist again in any branch of the armed forces, as he did on May 23, 1989?

That's less than two months from an involuntary separation to a new enlistment.

Followed, of course, by hospitalization on May 21, 1990 and a subsequent medical retirement on May 8, 1991. (One year in the hospital for what he describes as a hand injury/surgery?).
