US deploys trrops to South Sudan

Think Barry learned something after standing down troops for the Benghazi debacle ???

Hummmmmmm .......

Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Friday the United States has deployed 45 military personnel to volatile South Sudan to protect the embassy and U.S. government employees there.

"Although equipped for combat, this force was deployed for the purpose of protecting U.S. citizens and property," Obama said in a letter to Congress. "This force will remain in South Sudan until the security situation becomes such that it is no longer needed."

Odd number 45? I would think there is more. If the plan is to get US personnel out, they will need a bunch of air and ground support just for transportation.

Ramciel is minimum of 200 miles from the boarder,, that's a long ruck..

This really pissed me off reading this morning. I just don't understand the decision making process that our leaders use.It is unfortunate that people have to die because of poor leadership.

Why send your problematic, untested aircraft into unknown LZ's in the middle of the day?

Why send regular army troops when you have SF troops in the region who have done this type of missions before and have literally THOUSANDS of night infill's into Afghanistan and Iraq? Last time I checked personnel recovery is not in 1st ID's playbook.

Well, take into consideration who's ultimately running the show-a pothead agitator who admits to not knowing anything about his horrendous mistakes, and who nobody really knows anything about other than he comes across as a metro ignoramus to anybody who can readily recognize one, likes hoops, Danish chicks and the Qu'ran.

Sounds to me like it is in their METL and they were already in the region to do it.

...deployed soldiers from the U.S. Army’s East Africa Response Force to the capital of Juba to help evacuate American citizens and ensure the safety of embassy personnel there.

The 45 combat-ready soldiers are part of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division based in Fort Riley, Kansas, but who are on a year-long deployment in the Army’s Regionally Aligned Forces program, which marries brigade combat teams with combatant commands around the world to thicken their ranks.

The AFRICOM command is the first to receive a brigade, and soldiers began deploying in April of this year. The soldiers who comprise the East Africa Response Force are based at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti.

I'd wager this concept came about as a recommendation in the Libyan AAR.

Well

Well, now that they know the LZ is hot they should send some A-10s along on the next mission.

Oh wait! We don't need them anymore.

Intriguing, yeah? I mean think about it... Had any of us heard a single peep about BHO before he was announced on the Democratic ticket for election?
